Donatekart

Donatekart

When Anil Kumar Reddy (Founder, Donatekart) approached Bring a Smile Foundation in July, 2020 with a video campaign, we were happy to take it forward because we realised that an initiative to distribute food kits would help many, affected by the pandemic.

A video on us received more than 15,000 views (pan-India) with the result that 865 food kits (worth Rs. 5,19,000 or USD 7000) were sponsored up until September, 2020!

The distribution of the kits on the ground was made possible with the collaboration of some relentless warriors. Thank you:

  • Shrisha Shetty and team from Donatekart
  • Mr. C Chandrashekhar and team (for Mulugu District – call out to the District Collector, Mr. Krishna Aditya)
  • Vyjayanti Vasanta Mogli and team (including the NGO Pure, for the transgender community)
  • Vijender Mogli [for Bhadradri Kothagudem District, from Team Indigenous Development Organisation (IDO)]
  • Prakash Dheervani (Team Robin Hood Army)

“Cliched as it may sound, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without you – people who care and who stepped up to donate for this cause.”

Here’s the breakup of the kit distribution:

  1. Tribal people in a district called Mulugu, in Telangana (365 kits)
  2. For the transgender community in Hyderabad, India (100 kits)
  3. For the tribal people in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana (100 kits)
  4. For the families of Telangana Make-up Artists association (100 kits)
  5. For a distribution in Secunderabad (200 kits)

A Team is only as good as it’s people. Bring a Smile Foundation would like to express it’s gratitude to all those who have helped behind the scenes in this endeavour.

Thank you for making this Bring a Smile-Donatekart campaign a success!

The Popular

The Popular

Thank you to the very talented Inayah Sharon Aamir and team for featuring Team Bring a Smile and me in their magazine ‘The Popular’, August, 2020.

To narrate a story from an Indian epic – Team Bring a Smile aims for the eye of the (wooden) bird.

To set context – Dronacharya, a renowned teacher in archery, set a test of shooting a wooden bird, in a forest. He asked his pupils what they could see. The answers varied from trees, branches, flowers and fruits. Arjun, a young Prince, (and the most accomplished) said he could only see the eye of the wooden bird.

“We as a team focus on what we can do to help the world around us. In whatever way possible – education, healthcare, infrastructure assistance.”

Everything else is a peripheral that we gratefully accept.

Government school – Stationary drive

Government school - Stationary drive

The dreaded Final exams are upon us! To make the experience of kids in a Government school in a village (Rebbanapally, 240 kms from Hyderabad) slightly better, Bring a Smile Foundation sponsored stationery for 68 students (in class 10). This included pens, a compass box, an exam pad and a scale / ruler.
“It’s a drop in the ocean, but we hope it will make a difference.”
Good Luck to these kids!

Karachi Bakery NY Drive

Karachi Bakery NY Drive

Remember the time when we were in school and got an unexpected snack treat from a generous sponsor?

Remember that happy feeling?

Vijay Ramnani from KARACHI BAKERY played New Year Santa and ensured 900 children in 4 schools (low income / Government schools) experienced that same happy feeling between 4-7January, 2020.

The yummy snacks to the children included – a chocolate muffin, a veg curry-puff, a samosa, a Karachi biscuit and potato chips.

We are told the kids in all these schools couldn’t stop smiling!

Shout out to Team Karachi Bakery and Bring a Smile members Daksh Chindalia, Rajasree, Rajasree and Ishita Agarwal for taking time out to go help in the Distribution.

“Thank you Karachi Bakery for baking with a heart! ”

Smile Box Campaign

Smile Box Campaign

Have you ever tried going to an underprivileged settlement and distributed items that folks there can use?
Try it someday. Chances are something will stir within you.
The Smile Box campaign has seen 5000+ items being distributed between July – October 2019, the contributions coming from regular citizens.
It takes the total tally to a whopping 95000+ units (distributed since Bring a Smile came into existence).
To enable citizens to donate used but reusable items, 15 Smile Boxes have been placed in Malls and IT Tech Parks all over Hyderabad, India.
The five IT Tech Parks are:
  • Raheja Mindspace Tech Park
  • Divya Sri Orion Tech Park
  • Phoenix IT Park
  • I Labs
  • GAR Corp
“That’s 250,000+ employees who have access to doing a little good.”
Thank you for spreading the word about this campaign. The campaign in the Shopping Malls is on till December, 2019.
We do, because we can. Because of you.

Anbagham

Anbagham

There’s an NGO in Tamil Nadu called Anbagham that runs 3 destitute homes. one of them is in a place called Vichoor near Chennai. Bring a Smile sponsored 100 blankets for the mentally unstable people there. But what needs to be remembered is that we were able to ‘act’ to help keep these people a little warm in the winter of 2018.
Sofia Thenmozhi Ashraf (Rapper and Songwriter), you were an instrument here just like us Shout out to my sisterhood at ‘She Creates Change’, where Sofia and we got talking about Anbagham. Raafiya (the Coordinator / daughter of the Founder of Anbagham), we hope you continue to find support.
“And dear Donors, thank you for pitching in with help! As always.”
